Day 16, 17, 18 photos
Hell's Half Acre. This stunning deep canyon is beautiful and very deep. It is about 40 miles west of Casper. There is NOTHING, and I mean nothing before this (riding 80 miles in the wilderness) and then you see this sign that points to Hell's Half Acre on the right side of the road. The Indians used to drive the buffalo down into this canyon so that they would have their meat to eat and hides to use. It reminded me a little of Bryce Canyon area in Utah. Someone else remarked it was a "little Grand Canyon". There was a great cafe right by this and we were all looking forward to something to eat - - but it was all boarded up and closed. A big disappointment for the bicyclists as we were getting hungry for something other than the usual SAG stop snacks. But I managed and make it to Casper on the 3 SAG stops of food.
Another view of Hell's Half Acre.
A friendly bird that approached us at one of the SAG stops.
The Cowboy Cafe back in Dubois, WY. This was a very small cafe that was open before 6:00 AM to feed all of us. We did have to eat in two groups as it could not hold all 60+ riders. The service was good, and the food was excellent.
